I was born in Spanish Town, Jamaica and I am currently based in Queens, NYC. I am a graduate of Howard University where I graduated with a B.F.A in Theatre Arts with a concentration in Acting. Magna Cum Laude might I add and yes, I am still an actor.

However, I am also a New York City–based Pilates instructor. To be specific, I am a 500-hour comprehensively certified Pilates instructor, trained to teach across both mat and apparatus with an emphasis on safe, intentional movement. I’m not here to play.

My fitness journey began in 2021. I didn’t start working out with physical change in mind. I was in the worst place I’ve ever been mentally and wanted to feel better.

I’ll never forget the morning I was laying in bed depressed and broken. That morning, I remember the gym I would walk past regularly popped up in my mind. I think it was God showing me what I needed in that moment.

I dragged myself out of bed, threw on some clothes and said I’d go get a day pass. They didn’t offer day passes so I got a one month membership. Whatever it was, it kept me going back. That day changed my life and helped save me. Thank you God.

Not only did my mind start to clear up but I started to see a physical change that I was loving.

Then came Pilates!

My Pilates journey started as something to do in conjunction with weight training. It still is. After a few months of taking classes I noticed something out of the blue, my back pain was GONE. For months before I struggled with terrible back pain that worsened after lifting weights with bad form. I think that’s what it was.

After doing my research and having conversations with my instructor, I realized I could never give up Pilates. Yes, you can get “snatched,” and that’s fun, but it’s deeper than that. It heals.

That’s what kept me coming back, and somewhere in that return I felt a calling to take up space, to lead, and to show that Black girls belong here too. That’s why I became an instructor.
